Privacy

We don't ask for your name, email, or phone number anywhere on this site, and there are no accounts. Two things do collect a little information, and here's all of it.

Visit counts (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It sets cookies in your browser and sends Google details like the page you're on, your rough location, and what kind of device you have. We only look at the totals. In Europe, the UK, Switzerland, and California, it stays off until you say yes. Anywhere, the Analytics choices button at the bottom of every page lets you turn it off, and saying no deletes its cookies. Google also offers a browser add-on that opts you out, and most ad blockers stop it too. We also set one small cookie that only records which of those regions you're in, so the site knows whether to ask.

Song requests

At the Wisconsin show you can request a song from your phone at muillerfamilylightshow.com/request. When you use it, your phone makes up a random ID and keeps it in the browser's storage (not a cookie), so the line knows which songs are yours. It isn't tied to you.

For each request or song suggestion, we keep:

• the time and the night
• the song you picked
• that random ID
• a scrambled copy of your internet address
• whether it went through, or why it didn't (the line was full, for example)

The scrambled address is only there to stop someone from flooding the line. It can't be turned back into your address. We delete every one of them after the last show of the season and change the key that scrambles them, so this year's can't be matched to next year's.

The rest we keep from year to year so we can see which songs people love. That's how we decide what to add and what to retire.

To start over with a new ID, clear this site's data in your browser settings.

Who sees it

Just our family. We don't sell it or share it, and there's no advertising on this site. The site is hosted by Netlify, which handles the traffic the way any web host does.
